The ICON StoryICON is different. Our group was founded by two industry veterans, Ian McNickle and Dr. Jeromy Dixson, who took a unique approach to designing and building the company. It is one of our core beliefs that in order to build a truly great (dare we say Iconic) group, the #1 issue to solve is how to recruit and retain great doctors. So we spent the first 18 months of our initial design and early recruiting process by interviewing over 200 doctors (general dentists and specialists), and asked them what they wanted and did not want in a group model. Throughout this process we uncovered many core characteristics that shaped the ultimate design of our business model. Essentially, doctors told us what they wanted in a group model and we built it for them.  ICON initially launched in 2022 as an MSO (Management Support Organization), and began building our management team while we interviewed doctors and designed the model. In 2024, we converted to a shared ownership structure between doctors and the executive team, and officially launched as a DPO (Dental Partnership Organization). A DPO has a similar legal structure to a DSO, but is generally designed as more of a partnership where doctors are treated as equals instead of simply employees. In fact, our co-founding doctors worked with our executive team and attorneys to literally co-create the legal framework and documents for how ICON operates, and interacts with our partner doctors. The result was the most doctor-friendly partnership approach you will find in the dental industry.
